Penang Green Office

Penang Green Office Certification Program is an initiative by Penang Green Council (PGC) that encourages organisations to adopt sustainable practices in their daily operations. The program provides a structured framework and assessment system to help offices reduce their environmental impact while promoting a culture of sustainability among employees.

Organisation from both government and private sectors can apply for the 2-in-1 certification:

The top five organisations are selected based on outstanding performance, high evaluation scores, or active participation through multiple office entries. From a pool of ten nominated organisations, the five most exemplary achievers are honoured with this prestigious recognition.

To support PGC’s vision of Penang as a Green State by adopting the Green Office Concept through education and implementation of green initiatives within the office

For Who

Public Sector Organisations (Government, GLC) or Private Sector Organisations (Registered businesses in the form of factories, banks, supermarkets, hotels, trade or business groups, NGOs.

Application Procedure

To qualify for the Penang Green Office certification, applicants must first complete and pass the online self-assessment with a minimum score of 70% and above.
Once the minimum requirement is met, you may proceed to apply for a Site Audit.
Audit and administration fees are charged as seen below
Fee : RM 1,000 (audit + Administration)
* Payment can be conducted after the audit session.
A site audit will be conducted by our appointed third-party auditor, Fides Auditors.

Site Audit

Do prepare relevant supporting documentation such as energy and water consumption records, utility bills and related documents based on the audit criteria.
The auditor will have a copy of the answers that your office has submitted to PGC. During the walkabout, the auditor will check for discrepancies.
You may also present your ongoing and plans for environmental programmes.
You will obtain the results of the site audit in 3 months.

Certification Benefits

Green Office Certification complete with certificate valid for two years.
Office name published in PGC website.
The right to use the Penang Green Office logo on all official documentation, advertisements and other publicity material.
Participation in a certificate presentation ceremony.
