Penang Green School Program – State Level
The transformation of the Penang Green School program to the State Level starts in 2026. This transformation aims to recognize all registered schools under the Penang Green School through a Star Rating System and empower schools with Engagement Programs and the Penang Green School Fund
1. Star Rating System
The Star Rating System has been established to evaluate and formally recognize schools’ commitment to environmental sustainability. Schools registered under the Penang Green School Program and implementing green initiatives will be recognized through Star Level, categorized as Gold, Silver, or Bronze, in accordance with their achievements. The Star Rating is valid for a period of two years.

Student Engagement
Empower students to take active roles in environmental initiatives, fostering leadership, and environmental responsibility through environmental program such as Eco Talk and Green Camp

Teacher Engagement
Trainers (ToT) Program aims to strengthen teacher’s knowledge and capacity to effectively deliver sustainability education in schools.

Community Engagement
PGC will facilitate collaboration between industries or organizations and schools under the Penang Green School Program for the implementation of educational or outreach initiatives in schools.
3. Penang Green School Fund
Starting in 2027, the Penang Green School Fund will provide financial and in-kind support for schools to implement environmental initiatives, sustainability projects, and green infrastructure improvements. Schools that register for the Penang Green School Program in 2026 will be eligible to apply.
