Penang Green School Program – District Level
Penang Green School is an annual environmental audit program for all schools in Penang (except for international schools), initiated in 2010 by the Penang State Government in collaboration with MBPP and MBSP. Starting in 2026, the program is upgraded to the Penang Green School Program, featuring a new Star Rating System. The program also emphasizes continuous guidance and support for schools through three main pillars: student involvement, teacher engagement, and community engagement.
Starting in 2027, schools that register for the program in 2026 will also be eligible to apply for the Penang Green School Fund, supporting further environmental initiatives and sustainability projects within schools.
Objectives
- To raise awareness and deepen understanding of the importance of environmental conservation and protection.
- To empower schools, students, and the community to actively participate together in environmental initiatives.
- To support Green Schools through dedicated programs and resources.

Assessment
The assessment and auditing will be conducted by MBPP and MBSP at the District Level. The district-level evaluation will be used to determine the Star Rating for State Level recognition.
Application Procedure
- Go to PSG Assessment.
- Log into your existing account.
(For first-time registration, please create a new account using your school name and code.) - Complete the self-assessment by 31st July 2026
- The respective local council will arrange for a site audit in the month of August – September for district level competition.
