Penang Green Data
The Penang Green Data Program, led by PGC, is a state-level initiative aimed at strengthening environmental monitoring and decision-making through data-driven approaches. Serving as a centralized platform for analysing key environmental indicators, the program supports sustainable development while promoting transparency and stakeholder collaboration. PGC also plays a vital role in assisting the Penang State Government in formulating new Penang Sustainability Indicators to guide policy through evidence-based insights.
Objectives of the Green Data Program:
To improve the quality, integration, and accessibility of environmental datasets for better planning and transparency.
To involve government agencies, businesses, researchers, and communities in leveraging green data for shared environmental goals.
To provide accurate, timely insights that guide evidence-based policies and regulations for sustainable urban and natural resource management.
To raise public understanding of how environmental data can inform greener behaviours, support innovation, and drive long-term sustainability.
