“I am EcoChamps!” – Penang Recycling Competition

Winning Criteria for Recycling Champion

  1. Highest volume of recycling
  2. Variety (in terms of recycling categories) of recycling
  3. Completion of 1 Digital Badge (E-Waste Guardian)

Winning Criteria for Mission Champion

  1. Highest Riiipoints in total E-WASTE contribution (kg and units).
  2. Completion of 1 Digital Badge (E-Waste Guardian).
  3. Participants with the highest Riiipoints verified total contribution of e-waste will be awarded as Q2 Mission Champion.
  4. The winner who is selected as Mission Champion will not be eligible for the Lucky Draw & Recycling Champion.

Winning Criteria for Lucky Draw Winner

  1. Completion of any 1 Digital Badge (E-Waste Guardian)
  2. Five (5) winners will be selected randomly (the winner who is selected as Recycling Champion and Mission Champion will not be eligible for the Lucky Draw)

**Higher frequency of recycling = higher chance of winning as Lucky Draw Winner

  1. Aluminium, tin and scrap Metal
  2. Paper (newspaper, mixed paper) and carton box
  3. E-waste
  4. Plastic bottles and plastic containers only (mixed plastic is not acceptable)

Not Accept

  1. Fabric
  2. Glass bottle
  3. Food waste
  4. Wood and furniture
  5. Non-rechargeable battery
  6. Medicine
  7. Light bulb, fluorescent light

Terms & Conditions

  1. This program is open to residents of Penang who are registered as Penang Green Citizens.
  2. Participants must download the Riiicycle mobile application and register an account. All recycling submissions must be recorded via the Riiicycle App.
  3. All recyclables must comply with Clean & Dry standards and must be submitted under the correct recycling category.
  4. Participants are required to send the recyclables to the selected recycling station of Riiicycle referring to their collection schedule, OR any collection campaign under Riiicycle, using the mobile app reward system.
  5. The Competition period for Q2 runs from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026.
  6. The Recycling Champion will be determined based on:
    • Total volume of recycling contributed during the Competition period; and
    • Variety of recycling categories submitted.
  7. The participant with the highest verified combined volume and variety score will be awarded as the Q2 Recycling Champion.
  8. The Recycling Champion will not be eligible for the Q2 Mission Champion or Lucky Draw prizes.
  9. To qualify as a Q2 Mission Champion candidate, participants must:
    • Submit at least one (1) valid e-waste submission per month (April, May & June 2026).
    • Comply with Safe Handling guidelines. E-waste must be properly packed and safely handled.
    • Achieve the highest Riiipoints in total e-waste contribution (kg and units), subject to verification.
    • Sorting accuracy may be used as a tie-breaker where applicable.
  10. One (1) participant with the highest Riiipoints verified total e-waste contribution will be awarded as the Q2 Mission Champion.
  11. The Q2 Mission Champion will not be eligible for the Lucky Draw prize for the same quarter.
  12. To qualify for Q2 Lucky Draw selection, participants must:
    • Complete at least one (1) valid recycling submission during the Competition period; and
    • Successfully unlock the E-Waste Guardian Badge within Q2.
  13. Five (5) winners will be selected randomly from eligible participants at the end of the Competition period.
  14. Each participant is entitled to receive only one (1) prize for Q2.
  15. All data provided MUST be genuine and accurate, all data will be protected by Penang Green Council & Riiicycle. (Eg.: Name, IC number, phone number, Green Code, email address, etc.)
  16. Any incomplete pledging and registration will not be accepted.
  17. All submissions and results will be verified through the Riiicycle App system. The Organiser’s decision is final and binding.
  18. Each participant is only entitled to one prize.
  19. All prizes will be given out 2 weeks after the competition ends.
  20. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during prize collection.
  21. The winners will be selected based on data collected on the Riiicycle mobile apps. The Organiser’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entertained.
  22. All competition updates will be shared on the official social media page of Penang Green Council and Riiicycle.
  23. This competition is open to all Penangites except the staff members of Penang Green Council and Riiicycle.
  24. Penang Green Council and Riiicycle reserve the right to amend these Terms & Conditions without prior notice.
